Our Cycles, Ourselves
With Elizabeth Gross
In Person (Rosendale, NY)
Currently being scheduled for Spring, 2025
Our Cycles, Ourselves is an 8 week series of gatherings for women wanting to deepen their connection to their menstrual cycles through learning and implementing the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM).
Having a truly embodied connection to the menstrual cycle is about letting the connection itself change and transform you, as it supports the change and transformation you are already going through. Not only is FAM useful in better understanding one’s own menstrual cycle, but it’s also a way to uncover the daily rhythms and routines that might be helpful in fostering deepened self connection. Having an experienced guide, a supportive community, and a devoted, consistent practice are all important aspects of letting menstrual cycle connection nourish you deeply.
This weekly gathering will blend learning the practical skills of the Fertility Awareness Method with implementing the method in real time, so you will experience a well rounded balance of learning and action throughout our time together. We will also be going over various herbs, foods, and self care practices that can help support menstrual cycle health throughout its different phases. My intention is that by the end of the 8 weeks, you'll have a deepened appreciation for your menstrual cycle and all the wisdom it holds for you and feel supported, both by way of the course and the community we form together, to practice FAM with steadiness and ease.
What’s included:
8 weekly classes
Weekly private message group for you to share questions and celebrations with the course community, if you’d like
Who this course is for:
This course is for women who menstruate* wanting to learn the Fertility Awareness Method. Although the reasons for implementing FAM are vast, some core reasons are as a natural birth control or pregnancy planning method, DIY gynecological health, breast health, sexual health, and better understanding of menstruation and menopausal patterns. I have found time and time again that my clients' lives change in profound ways as they better understand how to care for their bodies through implementing FAM.
The ideal participant is someone who has been committed to holistic self care for some time, but wants to go deeper than a surface based experience, with an ample, focused period of time to explore core principles of holistic menstrual care. Sessions will focus on slowly learning the techniques of the practice and how to apply them effectively in the life you currently live. Variations for integrating the practice into everyday life will be offered based on whether individual participants want a more in depth or a lighter approach to the practice.
*Individuals experiencing amenorrhea (absence of menses) may benefit from implementing FAM. Please reach out if you have questions about whether or not the method is right for you.
What we will be doing during our class time:
This class series is intended to help you to connect your menstrual cycle in a deep and meaningful way and to absorb the wisdom it holds, which can often be underfelt in our busy, modern lives.
During this course, you can expect to:
learn the various aspects of the Fertility Awareness Method at a slow, steady pace
explore ways to support the menstrual cycle in accordance with the season of life that you’re in
emphasize the healthy function of the hormones and reproductive system
identify nutrient dense foods, herbs, and various self care practices that can help further support reproductive and menstrual cycle health
FAQ:
How much time should I expect to dedicate to this practice during the course?
The extent to which you take what we go over in class depends on your natural pace and what you have capacity for at this point in your life. If you’re busy, do less. This method is meant to happen within the context of your real life, not for when it’s the “perfect” moment.
Outside of our two hour weekly meetings, you can expect to enact what we learn daily in the comfort of your own home for actual practice of the method. Throughout the weeks you’ll be able to share insights and questions through a message board for members of this course, if you choose. You’ll also have options for readings in your own time to deepen your understanding of what we go over during our in-session time. We will have a week off mid course, so you can spend more time with any course material that you’re wanting to that week.
If you know you prefer more specific, in-person feedback as you learn, you'll have the option to schedule a private consultation with me during the course of the series at an additional, discounted price.
What if I can’t attend all of the classes live?
I do recommend you sign up only if you can commit to each class. However, I understand that this might not be possible for everyone. If you think you'll need to miss a live class for any reason, I will send you an audio recording of class which you can download to your device and listen to as soon as you're able to keep up with course material for the week.
Will I definitely be able to use this method as natural birth control?
While FAM is widely known as a method of natural birth control, I can’t guarantee you will be able to use it as such. FAM is a highly effective contraceptive method only when it’s guidelines are strictly followed, which is subject to the individual. And like every other form of contraception, there is a chance that the method will not be effective. A key way to discern whether or not this method can be your preferred form of contraception is to learn it from a qualified instructor and implement it (this is where myself and this course comes in!). In learning and implementing the practice, you will understand if the method is right for you. Just like any form of contraception, some methods will be a good fit for you and some won’t be. FAM is no different! And depending on individual factors at play, I generally suggest that an individual practice the method for at least 6 months before relying on it as a means of contraceptive care.
It is also very important to clarify that FAM does not take the place of medical advice and is not meant to treat or cure any disease. I am also not a medical professional. This course material is based on information I have learned, gathered and shared with clients and students over the past 10 years of teaching this method. While I will do my best to provide the most accurate information I can about FAM, I can’t be responsible for any errors or omissions made during the course of this program.
There are many reasons to learn and implement FAM centered on getting to know your menstrual cycle and fertility signs intimately, which takes time and consistency. My main intention in offering this course is to provide you valuable information that you can work with in whatever ways feel right for you moving forward.
