Learn the Basics of Pelvic Steaming in an Inclusive Environment
Pelvic steaming, also known as vaginal, vulva or yoni steaming, is a deeply connecting and nurturing practice for whole pelvic care.
Introduction to Pelvic Steaming is a 3 hour long in-person class, meeting on Saturday, April 13th 2024 from 1-4pm. This class is for you if you are interested in learning more about do-it-yourself holistic pelvic care. By the end of this workshop, you'll have all the information you’ll need to incorporate pelvic steaming into your self care routine, if you choose to do so.
Who is this class for?
We welcome women, trans and non-binary folks with vulvas to come and learn more about do-it-yourself holistic pelvic care practices for themselves and their loved ones. Although we will be discussing herbs that are supportive for different phases of the menstrual cycle, peri or post menopausal individuals are certainly welcome to join. If you have any experience working with herbal remedies, that will be helpful! If you don’t, come anyway. We welcome all levels of experience. If you’re interested in learning more about pelvic steaming, you’re in the right place.
Please note that pelvic steaming is contraindicated for individuals who currently have an IUD, are actively menstruating (the practice may be done during different phases of the menstrual cycle aside from the active bleeding time), are experiencing active infection, are in post-op recovery, or are pregnant or postpartum, unless indicated by a midwife or birth-worker. If you identify with any the above-mentioned states of being, you are welcome to come and learn more about the practice regardless. In doing so, you will be informed on how to work with this practice if your circumstance changes in the future.
What will I be learning about during this class?
We will start brief introductions, and then I will cover the following:
The traditional origins of pelvic steaming
When pelvic steaming can be helpful and practical safety tips
How to use herbs in pelvic steaming depending on which phase of the menstrual cycle you’re in
Ways to effectively practice pelvic steaming at home, including how to set up an optimal environment for your steaming practice
Different materials you can use to set up your pelvic steam
We will end our time by making 1 oz bags of herbs for you to use to begin your steaming practice!
Do I need to bring anything to the workshop?
Come as you are! This is a relaxed, inclusive space where you can listen, share, and ask any questions you may have about pelvic steaming. Please note that you will not be doing a pelvic steam during the workshop, so wear whatever you’d like.
What’s included?
3 hours of in-person class time
A handout with essential notes from our class for you to take home
References for purchasing high quality steaming stools and herbs
A 1 oz bag of pelvic steaming herbs for you to use for your steaming practice
How much does it cost?
This workshop is free-of-charge through the Holistic Health Community. The HHC's mission is to make holistic healthcare available to all. This workshop is a part of the Soil to Soul program of the HHC (https://holistichealthcommunity.org/soil-to-soul). HHC offerings are free through 'sacred reciprocity'. In other words, we hope that if you are able, you will make a donation, or otherwise offer your time as a volunteer in the community or extend yourself in acts of kindness where needed. Basically, spread the love by paying-it-forward.
For many, alternative avenues to healing outside of the medical care system are cost prohibitive. You are welcome to attend this workshop and all others through the HHC, contributing what you can in exchange: from paying nothing, to a dollar, to $5, $20 or more. This helps us carry on in offering our free programs to the public and making such offerings accessible to those who otherwise could not afford them.
How do I sign up?
